GA Holds in ECV (Beta)

  • Updated

The GA Holds feature in ECV (Event Creation for Venues) gives clients the ability to hold groups of GA tickets (any non-reserved seating ticket type) for artists, media, marketing, labels, etc in order to remove them from the available inventory.

Holds are not available for purchase online but can be sold using Box Office. Holds can be released at any time. An order is not created when seats are put in a hold status, and you would need to sell or comp your holds in order to print them. Please note* If you are using "Price Levels," the price of your ticket being held does not change and will always be sellable at the original price.

Creating & Releasing Holds

Creating Holds

In Event Creation for Venues (ECV), holds can be made once ticket types exist for an event. A Hold must be associated with a ticket type. If a ticket type is leveraging shared inventory, the hold will apply to the master inventory. Multiple holds can be made for one ticket type, but the sum of the holds must be less than the total inventory for that ticket type. There is no limit to the number of holds that can be made for an event. Each hold must have a name. Holds that share a ticket type must have unique names, i.e. Ticket Type A can have three Artist Holds, but they cannot all be named “Artist Hold”. TIP: Include the ticket type in this situation ie, Artist Hold - VIP, Artist Hold - GA, etc.

Releasing Holds

Once holds are made, the quantity can be adjusted by using the edit icon next to the hold amount. The quantity may not be reduced below the number of holds that have already been sold.

To release all remaining holds, clients can select “Release.” This will reduce the quantity to the number of holds that have already been sold, and no more Holds will be available. For instance, if none of those holds have been sold, the fraction will display 0/0. If 3 of 10 available holds have been sold, the fraction will be 3/10: 7 holds are available, and 3 have already been sold and cannot be released. If 10 holds of 10 available holds have been sold, the fraction will be 0/10. In short, the first number represents the number of remaining or available holds for sale, and the second number represents the total number of holds. If no tickets in the hold group have been sold, the hold can be deleted.

Comping, selling, and refunding Holds

Holds are not available for sale online. In the Box Office, holds are sold and comped just like any other ticket. Here is how they are displayed in the Box Office:

Refunding Holds

You can refund a hold like you would any other ticket. When you refund a hold, it returns to the hold allotment, where it can then be released if you wish.
