eCommerce Tracking is LIVE!

Great! What do I do now?

Here are your options:

  • I have a GTM but nothing is set up in there
  • I already have GA4 set up in GTM and I just need to add in the eCommerce tracking piece
  • I already have GA4 and social pixels (FB/TikTok/SnapChat/Google Ads/Social Ladder) but no eCommerce tracking

Prerequisites:

I have a GTM but nothing is set up in there

  1. Head over to your GTM by going to https://tagmanager.google.com/#/home and select the GTM account you want to edit

  1. Once in the container select the Admin tab

  1. Within the Admin tab you will select “Import Container”

  1. Select “Choose container file”

  1. You’ll want to have downloaded this JSON FILE and select it from your desktop. It should be named GTM-Eventim-EcommercewithSocialMedia.json

  1. This will load up the tags, triggers and variables. You can leave this as Overwrite since there is nothing in the container

7.  You’ll want to then scroll down and hit “Add to workspace”

8. This will have loaded all of the changes into your workspace

9. You will then want to navigate to the Variables section

10. This is where you will want to make sure you update the;

  • GA4 Measurement ID
  • Meta Pixel ID
  • SnapChat Pixel ID
  • TikTok Pixel ID

11. You’ll also want to navigate to Google Ads | Pageview, Google Ads | Purchase, and Google Ads | Remarketing tags to change the Conversion ID and Conversion Label for each of these to your specific IDs and Labels

12. You’ll then want to check that everything is working correctly and go to Preview on the main GTM screen

This will open a new tab where you’ll want to enter in the site or page you want to test this on

I already have GA4 set up in GTM and I just need to add in the eCommerce tracking piece

  1. You’ll want to repeat steps 1 - 4 from the above implementation and then on step 5 you’ll want to choose THIS JSON FILE called GTM-Eventim-EcommerceONLY.json

  1. Make sure you select “Merge” for the import option instead of overwrite

  1. And then select “Add to workspace”

  1. Here you will want to go to the workspace Overview and make sure to hit abandon change for the GA4 Measurement ID

  1. You’ll also still want to go through and update the;

This is where you will want to make sure you update the;

  • Meta Pixel ID
  • SnapChat Pixel ID
  • TikTok Pixel ID

  1. You’ll also want to navigate to Google Ads | Pageview, Google Ads | Purchase, and Google Ads | Remarketing tags to change the Conversion ID and Conversion Label for each of these to your specific IDs and Labels
  1. You’ll then want to check that everything is working correctly and go to Preview on the main GTM screen

This will open a new tab where you’ll want to enter in the site or page you want to test this on

I already have GA4 and social pixels (FB/TikTok/SnapChat/Google Ads/Social Ladder) but no eCommerce tracking

You will want to repeat all steps from the “I have a GTM but nothing is set up in there” section but on step 6 instead of selecting Overwrite you’ll want to select Merge.

You will still want to perform the steps of editing the;

  • GA4 Measurement ID
  • Meta Pixel ID
  • SnapChat Pixel ID
  • TikTok Pixel ID
